The answer lies in a good podiatrist or surgeon. A common procedure done for recurrent ingrown toenails is as follows. Its a little gross but it works. Ask your COMPETENT medical PROFESSIONAL. It is called lateral nail avulsion with matricectomy. I had this done not too long ago.The area is anesthetized and the nail is cut vertically down to the nail bed. The root of the nail is then killed so that it will no longer grow any more nail material. This is done with electrocautary or maybe silver nitrate. The skin on the affected side then grows in resulting in a narrower nail (not by much though) and within a short time its almost undetectable.
