I don’t know if it’s a question of whether or not you need it in order to live or if it’s a question of whether you really qualify. They guidelines for government programs such as medicaid and foodstamps are very low unless you have a large family. The only program you can pretty easily get onto is WIC. If you truly qualify, then you need it to live because there is no way that you are paying rent, insurance, gas, tuition, electricity etc. with your income. Any extra help is welcome If you don’t qualify – they are cracking down these days so I don’t think its worth “making yourself qualify” because you’ll be slapped with a very heavy fine if they catch you.
