It bothers me in general. It’s not just the fact that that thread got closed when someone asked for it. I agree that it was controversial, probably a pain to moderate, and should not have lasted much longer. I just don’t think that a simple request to close a thread adds anything and it shouldn’t lead to closing a thread on its own.
