Whoever thinks that the bad press we get from Deborah Feldman’s book, marketed as a personal memoir, even though it paints a picture of an entire community, is anywhere as harmful as the bad press, hatred and mockery frum people get when one sees photos of “very religious” Jews in their easily identifiable dress, with ugly news stories beside the photos, and there have been an assortment of them in recent years, is smoking something. Theyre hopelessly mistaken. They can talk til theyre blue in the face!
Even if theyre a small minority.
Especially when theres suspicion of other religious people covering for them.
