We were told there would be a Russian baal teshuva who will tell us her lifestory and how she returned to her roots. In comes this very Russian-looking woman with a tichel and wisps of hair sticking out. She began telling her story with a strong Russian accent. Suddenly, some girls burst out laughing and started talking animatedly. Our camp director turned beet red and told us she’s ashamed we’re behaving like that. Suddenly, the “baal teshuva” tears off her tichel and we realized it was the cleaning lady of the camp. In a broken English she exclaimed, “Color War!”
