There’s nothing to ask anybody about here. It’s a simple case of United States copyright law. You are permitted an “archival backup” of your CD, which can be used at a later time if your original is damaged. Unless the CD is in the public domain, you MAY NOT copy it to give to someone else. That is theft and violation of copyright law.
