Why in England do they say “…was taken to hospital” as opposed to the way WE say it “…taken to THE hospital”?
In England, you go to school, you go to prison, you go to hospital.
In the U.S. you go to school, you go to prison, you go to THE hospital.
Or, on the other hand, why do WE say it the way WE do???
That’s an excellent question.
