I have used many different movie editing programs and my personal favorite is Vegas Movie Studio HD. It does take a while to get the hang of what you can actually do with it but everything is tweakable. It comes in different versions which vary in price but the HD version which I believe is $100 is amazing. I do have one of the older versions as well (maybe 7 I think- I’m not sure) which is probably cheaper and is quite good as well.
