Do wives or girls have to shlug hoshanas? Absolutely.
Considering that only 3 factors went into the formulation of our current fixed Jewish calendar, one of them being that Hoshana Rabba is never to fall out on the Holy Shabbat {the other 2 being that Yom Kippur not be Friday nor Sunday}, just so that the 5 Arovos can be beaten 5 times on the ground, this speaks volumes to me, as to how incredibly important this Mitzwah simply has to be.
So absolutely no-one is off the hook, for this exceedingly important ritual.
