Even if these people did do “something” wrong they were given unjust punishments and unjust appeal opportunities. As fellow Jews, we must help them.
Even if they did, in fact, do something wrong – “Keivan she’nikla, achicha hu…”. We don’t have to give them Shlishi when they get out of prison, but we must help them get out.
