In the coldest, darkest time of the whole year

when nights are long and the sunrays disappear

the black skies will suddenly be pierced by a light

a refreshing, beautiful and holy sight

as Chanukah will finally be here

and light up the darkness of the night

so too, may this dark and bitter golus

that our teachers and parents have told us
