I know quite a few nursing students who graduated last year that can’t find decent jobs. Social work doesn’t pay all that well at the beginning, but once you go private and build up a clientele, you can make at least 100-150 an hour. I don’t know many nurses who make that much. Granted, you will be required to attend trainings to maintain your license (I don’t know if that’s require of nurses), and it’s recommended to keep up to date in the newest research and therapies. Nurses also can have grueling hours, while social workers can generally make their own hours. At the beginning, a nurse might make more, but in the long run, if you are an ambitious person, you can do well for yourself as a social worker.
