For those people who have had the sleeve gastrectomy, how much weight did you have to lose? How much have you lost so far–in what length of time? How much down time was there when you had the surgery? Is your mind and your stomach full/satisfied with the lesser amount of food intake? Or are you limited in the amount you can comfortably consume only to want to be eating more? – 2 Cents
I dont know if this topic is relevant anymore – but Im down about 85 lbs in 9 months (probably could be more if I worked out more). Most of the time I’m not terribly hungry at all- but when I am I try to be careful what I eat. Getting enough protein in the diet is paramount. I also try to avoid simple carbs as much as possible.
I agree with the person who brought up acid reflux or GERD in regard to the band. This is one of the reasons my doctor strongly urged me not to do the banding as I had a history of GERD.
As far as Gastric Plication (which is somewhat similar to the sleeve but they fold the stomach instead of removing part of it) is still in the trial stages in the US.
