You can sue the first guys in NY. Also, even in CA you can pay the lawyers to take your case, if they won’t do it on consignment. Most take between $200 -400 per hour. This would end up costing at the most $35,000 for a case like this. If this is a lot, I’m sure if you offer a lawyer $10,000 down and the rest of the third of the total win on consignment, which comes out he/she gets a total of $83,000, you would have plenty of sharks biting on your case! Don’t look for the best lawyer or the most famous one, just s/o who has some sort of experience in Malpractice cases.
Take the case yourself (Pro-se) if none of the options are viable. Even if you are 100% positive that you can’t present a case yourself, (I’ve done it and it’s not as hard as lawyers make it out to be), just by filing the case, you might get a settlement offer!
