Like previous posters have mentioned- all Americans need to know how to drive normally and most do. The stories you heard happened to be bad drivers also in America. Also, where I live there are pedestrian crosswalks in the middle of main streets and we do have traffic circles, so I cannot understand why those people did not know how to drive.
