I sometimes wonder if doctors push unnecessary medical procedures for reasons of expediency rather than strictly medical necessity or fear of liability or financial considerations rather than medical considerations or simply because the doctor is unaware of less intrusive but equally effective options. I know others have this concern too, though I have no reason to suspect that any of these are a valid concern in the above discussion.
