I was once told by someone that Rav Neventzahl said in the name of Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach that there is an oral tradition going back to the Gra that Avraham ben Avraham’s sacrifice tremendously weakened the cochos hatumah in the world, to the point where one does not have to be makpid on 4 amos. Incredulously, I asked one of Reb Shomo Zalman’s sons about this, and he confirmed it to me!
