I try to give things that are kosher l’Pesach only. I try to find chocolates that are Kosher L’Pesach, Most Grape juices and wines are. You can usually find Teas.
One year I made chocolate chip biscotti/mandelbread/hamantashen and gave a J & J iced coffee.
I had a friend give franks in blankets and mini potato knishes with a pickle.
One gives syrian maza foods like Lehmagene, kibbe, mini knishes, & pickles with a little tehina.
Last year, a friend did a pink & brown theme, she found this pretty pink and brown mugs, earlier in the year, and saved them for Purim. She gave 2 very fancy sugar cookies in those colors, which she decorated her self and some pink meringue cookies, wrapped in a matching bow. Very simple and elegant.
Someone told me their school sends a list home with all the teachers and staff. Everyone pays a certain amount for each receipiet. That way each rebbe/teacher gets one beautiful classy Mishloach Manot with a list of the givers. I am sure the Teachers do NOT want to be flooded with so much candy and appreciate it so much more. Otherwise, your own kids maybe eating the very candies you gave the teachers, as they try to attempt to get rid of the nosh(before Pesach) thru good behavior in the classroom!! So in the long run, I thought that was a great idea.
My problem is the kids’ friends. They get so much candy from their friends. You have your own kids and they have to give at least 10 friends and so on and so on… And you can’t just let the children pick only 3 friends to give to, because their other friends give them and you feel like you have to give them something back.
I wish the teachers, maybe, they could do a drawing and each kid picks out one name and just gives to one kid and that kid only!!
