I know someone who lives there. He says he feels safe living there, but he doesn’t know if anyone living in Yerushalyim would feel safe. Regarding traveling to, from Yerushalyim, he says it’s not as unsafe as it looks. I met him in Ramat Beit Shemesh, it’s about 40 minutes away by car. I really have no idea but it sounds like there’s not that frequent public transportation there. I just checked it online for you. You can google Ma`ale Amos and you’ll get a page from Gush Etzion that tells you about it. It says that Egged #165 comes there 4 times a day.
