Does anyone have any idea if its possible to get a hold of a sefer torah for much cheaper than the cost of writing one? I know that refurbishing an old one is cheaper, but it also comes with its own set of issues.

What about finding someone who would be willing to donate a sefer that is not in use? I would then have a sofer check it. I would imagine that could cost a couple thousand dollars, but nothing near the cost of purchasing one.

I just have my mind set on a sefer torah lieluy nishmas. The issue is the cost..
