WIY, it’s not a halachic issue per se, it is an issue of sensitivity, and I think tzaddiq expressed it well.
My thinking was that he had a point, but OTOH, it’s not as if it’s served on Tuesday. Having cholent on Thursday night seems to me to be an expression of enthusiasm that Shabbos is coming.
