Wow, I am shocked. My family at Ganz told me that for the first time, they were told the season officially ends this Friday. When I was a kid the season ended when we left, and we left as late as we possibly could. If school started Sept. 7, we went home Sept. 6.September 4, 2011 5:37 am at 5:37 am #805391
Ah, memories! I went up to Ganz last week to drive my family member home and also to keep a promise to my sons that they could visit “the” bungalow colony this summer. Everything was exactly as I remembered it, except that the cornfield was just a plain field now. My sons (who obviously are easily impressed) really liked it there.
(Not to worry, always here, I still don’t know who you are in real life. But then, sometimes I don’t know who I am, either :))July 22, 2019 1:32 pm at 1:32 pm #1762789
Just came upon this old thread… the bakery in Woodridge was called Mortman’s.
Does anyone remember the bakery in Mountaindale, up the hill? And the Meal Mart on Mountaindale’s Main Street, where the aroma of barbecuing chickens was delicious?
How about Daskal’s summer grocery and Becky’s all-year-round grocery?
And the only shomer shabbos post office in the country?July 24, 2019 1:36 pm at 1:36 pm #1764840
I created this username/password just for this forum as I am not a regular just perusing . In regards to the NEW ROXY I was there as a busboy in the summer of 1966. Now who was the resident tummler that memorable summer?
