Why does the Talmud say that a person who eats and drinks on the 9th is equivalent (jn merit) to one would fast on both the 9th and the 10th?

Does this also apply to a person who does not fast on the 10th?

One who eats on the ninth recieves merit as if he fasted that day. If he fasts the next day he ends up with the schar of fasting for two days.

Only 163 days [23 weeks & 2 days] left thru Tishri 9th, so I am already actively working on the menu for our Seudo Mafsekes.

Fortunately I don’t have to deal with bringing my Kittel to the cleaners tomorrow, as I did not wear my Kittel at the Seder, and shan’t be wearing my Kittel until Rosh haShono and then Yom Kippur.

Only 164 days until I need a clean kittel. I can probably wait until next week to have it cleaned.
