I would have to give a lot to taxes and then I would give maaser to Yeshivos and my sisters who are living on a kollel budget and then I would use the rest to support my family so that my husband (whoever he might be) will be able to learn without any worry of parnasah.April 21, 2009 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm #859782
25: ok, deal!
39: i give actual money away pretty often buddy! good to see you back btw!April 21, 2009 11:49 pm at 11:49 pm #859783yrosMember
moderators, you are mods not bloggers!!!!!!
86 (wherever you are)
99 (yes, you too chief)
(did I miss anyone)
yros has spoken, we are moderators and not bloggers!
I say we leave not one post of yros unmoderated
– comment within
just do not leave it unmoderated! we are, afterall, moderators!
YW-Moderator-72April 22, 2009 1:41 am at 1:41 am #859784
note to yros: the mods used to be one of us! then they got upgraded to Moderator statuses!April 22, 2009 1:57 am at 1:57 am #859785
hey you took out my last comment on this thread, mod. (i know it was 72 – who else could it have been??)April 22, 2009 2:17 am at 2:17 am #859786yrosMember
jax: stop playing games with me. Mods, I didn’t mean that you shouldn’t let any of my posts unmoderated, I mean’t that you are here to moderate and not to blog.
let me check the handbook. hmmm, ok here it is:
section yud-gimel – blogging while moderating: moderators may blog while moderating in one of two ways 1) commenting under their moderator screen name, or 2) inserting a comment within the comment of a submission by a non-moderator.
so… I guess we are allowed to afterall. :o)
YW Moderator-72April 22, 2009 2:27 am at 2:27 am #859787
ha is there really a handbook? this isn’t the first time you have quoted it. if it exists 😉April 22, 2009 2:29 am at 2:29 am #859788
yros: sorry, but i’m not playing games with you! it’s a known fact around here that the mods used to all be members! they even use their real member sn from time to time, although us members don’t know which sn are actually a mod’s in reality! and come on the mods need a break from time to time from modding, to have fun & blog with us!April 22, 2009 2:42 am at 2:42 am #859789
jax or mods: are they allowed to tell us if they want?
1) how would Jax know?
2) do I need to quote the section and subsection from the handbook or does it suffice to write, the short answer of NO?April 22, 2009 3:03 am at 3:03 am #859790
an open book: a mod signs an oath of silence, never to tell you anything about his member sn!
mod: ha ha yeah how would i know??!!
AOB: did it ever dawn on you, that i might be a mod?!April 22, 2009 3:13 am at 3:13 am #859791
when i ask questions in a post to mods directly, they are ignored anyway.
thanks for answering!
jax: no, i don’t think you’re a mod. for one thing you spend too much time on as jax, you wouldn’t use it as often if you were on as a mod! (but its not impossible…)April 22, 2009 3:25 am at 3:25 am #859792
an open book: maybe i use 2 computers at once! one as jax and one to mod!?!?April 22, 2009 3:25 am at 3:25 am #859793April 22, 2009 11:59 am at 11:59 am #859794
jax: if you did, you wouldn’t be suggesting this!
kapusta: yeah maybe 😉April 22, 2009 12:30 pm at 12:30 pm #859795
the results are in: keep imagining…April 22, 2009 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #859796AnonymousInactive
now that I know that I am allowed to blog, despite yros’s assumption that I’m not, I can tell you that I do have another sn which I still use occassionaly. Don’t bother guessing because 72 said I am not allowed to reveal it and he outranks me. I wouldn’t want to face the modding disciplinary board. 🙂April 22, 2009 3:24 pm at 3:24 pm #859798AnonymousInactive
now can someone please win the lottery and share the proceeds with the mods so we can get this thread back on topic? 🙂April 22, 2009 3:32 pm at 3:32 pm #859799
’25. we gotta wait for the next turn around.
btw, did anyone buy tickets?April 22, 2009 7:53 pm at 7:53 pm #859800
mega millions is up to 155 million for the next round. If I win, free coffee for all mods for a year! 🙂April 22, 2009 7:59 pm at 7:59 pm #859801
Charlie: if you can figure out who they are, that is!April 22, 2009 8:03 pm at 8:03 pm #859802
true, but for a year’s worth of 2% milk no sugar coffee, I think someone may be willing to talk. 🙂April 22, 2009 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #859803squeakParticipant
That’s the trigger. Once the expected jackpot is over $144M, the game becomes in favor of the buyer. Of course, the caveat is that the jackpot number is not the lump sum after tax payout, so you have to adjust for that. Also, as the jackpot grows so does the number of players, and thus the likelihood of multiple winners. And the whole thing is moot because the law of large numbers does not work for once in a while events. So obviously I am trying to distract myself from what I should be doing instead right now.April 22, 2009 8:13 pm at 8:13 pm #859804
$155M after factoring for cash value and after maaser and after taxes = a whole lot of coffee. thanks! you’re a good man charlie brown! oh… and look at the money I am saving you by skipping the sugar! :o)April 22, 2009 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm #859805
I offered you a year’s worth of free coffee. If you can drink millions of dollars worth of coffee in a year, then I am VERY impressed! And yeah, thanks for saving me on the sugar!April 23, 2009 5:30 am at 5:30 am #859806
hey guess what i just realized?? i must have made a mistake because i was wondering where it went and i just saw it in the wrong thread:
and yeah 13 million can get a couple of yeshivas out of hock. and imagine what yad eliezer and bonei olam could do with it.

…was supposed to go after this one:
whats your problem mod39- who said they wouldn’t give anything else in addition to masser to tzeddakah? We’re first tackling the masser part which is a must- and also happens to be $13 mil now! so one tiny little part of this mess at a time, wouldya? 😉

Jax- you’re the last member of the CR that needs the $$$! You’ve got the family Ireland fund that has a bottomless pit 😉April 23, 2009 10:46 pm at 10:46 pm #859809
areivim: 😉 maybe i’ll share some with you, i’ll have $15 million to massur!April 23, 2009 10:58 pm at 10:58 pm #859810
where do you think the Ireland Fund got its money from if not the lottery?April 23, 2009 10:58 pm at 10:58 pm #859811

The family Ireland fund is real money? I was always under the impression that his father’s “business” was a yeshiva, and Jax’s work there is in the bais medrash. Am I the only one who thought so?April 23, 2009 11:47 pm at 11:47 pm #859814
Charlie brown: for the record my biggest lotto winning was only $100 bucks! but the Ireland Fund is doing very well-no issues with the economy theses days b”h!;)April 24, 2009 12:24 am at 12:24 am #859815

I just went with my bro and we bought a lottery ticket together. I’m going to win but I won’t be able to tell anyone here cuz then you’ll all know who I am, so I guess you should just congratulate me now on my(our) good fortune.
~a~April 24, 2009 1:59 am at 1:59 am #859817
hey if you really won you wouldn’t tell us?? what a friend.
don’t worry, with money like that you don’t have to worry about the CR messing up shidduchim 😉April 24, 2009 2:15 am at 2:15 am #859818April 24, 2009 6:47 pm at 6:47 pm #859819
tip to the winner: hold off on going to claim your prize! if you go right away to claim your prize, there would be a big hooplah and they’ll take your photo! then the lotto place has the right to give your photo to local papers to print an article of you as the winner! you have almost a full year to claim the prize! by then you can get your prize with the world knowing about it!
oh and one more think make you Estate the winner and not you, will save you a lot of headaches!April 24, 2009 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #859820April 24, 2009 6:59 pm at 6:59 pm #859821anonymisssParticipant
moish, the mods won’t let it through cuz you guys will all know who I am and that would be a terrible breach of cr policy! But maybe I’ll do what jax said, wait a while to claim and then i’ll be able to tell you that i won.

anonymisss: good idea, just check how long it is that you can claim the prize for! at some point you no longer could claim it though after the time!April 24, 2009 7:24 pm at 7:24 pm #859828
