For some people cleaning is an obsession.
As to the OP’s Question; Most things in life has a “pain” and a “gain” for exemple if you pay money to buy a coat first you pay, wich is a pain, then you are warm wich is a gain. If you eat candy first you enjoy the taste wich is a gain, then you need to go to the dentist wich is a pain. So how do we know if something is a possitive thing or a nagetive thing? If first comes the pain then the gain (like in the first exemple) thats a possitive thing. If first comes the gain and then the pain (like in the second exemple) thats a negetive thing. (something like ?????? ?????? ?????? ????? ????).
So back to our question; to post now we have fun first, but then we will have to work harder to clean later, so thats first a gain and then a pain. However if we put in the efort to clean now, then we will have an easier time later, wich is first a pain then a gain.

The dolls are in the dish washer, (they are there for a couple of days already, didn’t get to them yet…)
The basement was finished before the eynikel was born, I wanted it ready for the kimpeturin.
That includes the bedroom, bathroom, playroom, games, and most of the toys.
i hate these threads. they bring me nothing but anxiety. i dont/cant stop haing chametz available more than 24 hours before pesach and i don’t have goyim to do my work. i can’t even take off of work to do it and i dont have garages or playrooms or a dishwasher so it just makes me feel bad. obviously i have much much work to do on my sameach bichelki (which, by the way, is not quite the struggle the other eleven months of the year).
ya know what i’m doing today while you clean? I am still having drop offs of everything everyone is cleaning out of there freezers and i am calling people who can use it to feed their families over the next weeks. it’s great but my house is a wreck.
My house is a wreck. Yes, and not the mid-clean up kind. My living room is filled with pans and pans of food and candies from mishloach manos that are way too expensive to throw out and can be dessert for someone’s shabbos table. My freezer and fridge are stuffed with chametzdik ice cream, roasts, chickens and meat that people are “clearing out of their freezers” to make room for their pesach stuff. pesach cleaning will be an an anxiety provoking nightmare for me for the next month until 6 days before hand when my husband and i have no more choice and spend nights cleaning everything Hashem wants clean, and only what Hashem wants clean. And we pray that it accurately syncs with our cleansing of the chametz from within us in the same way, working on priorities first and foremost even tho everyone else is having an “i just finished cooking for every meal of pesach for this year AND next year!” fest. Humiliating, but the way it needs to be.

Sorry Syag. I didn’t mean to make you feel bad. I don’t either have goyim, my husband picked them up specifically for the garage, because the stuff in there is too heavy for me, and he isn’t available to help.
The shalach manos junk go straight to the garbage on motzei purim in my house, the regular snacks go into the snack basket under the breakfast table and the real food goes into the Fridge and we eat it for the next few days, and whatever stays over is dumped. I don’t make myself a headache from it.
Why does everyone drop off their food at your house?? If you find it this stressful, maybe you shouldn’t do it.
Since there will be a chasunah (chupah and luncheon for 85) at our house in the next 2 weeks, most cleaning can not start until after that.
B”H we have a separate Pesach kitchen upstairs along with 6 other rooms that are not in use most of the year.l Those rooms have been cleaned. Pesach shopping has begun and the freezers and refrigerators upstairs are starting to fill with Pesach items. No guests will be allowed upstairs until the whole house is Pesachdicke…it has its own entrance and will be kept locked.
This Sunday, we’ll clean the studio over the garage, as well as the garage bays themselves. They also will be locked until the house is cleaned. Unlike Yuntif, no guests will be staying at the house for the chasunah…we’ll put them up next door at my MIL’s. She doesn’t clean for Pesach, she sells everything and just moves into our house. We’re hoping this year she’ll agree to stay on permanently.
don’t feel bad queen, im wrong for being jealous and every pesach i revisit this emotion. Totally my problem, not yours.
regarding the food – stressed?! the food isn’t stressing me, listening to people tell me how close it is to pesach and how far behind i am is what stresses me. my house looks like this every sunday. and after any random simcha. we have been collecting and redistributing food from others for decades, as my mother did for decades before me.
I can handle the mess and craziness (kinda fun sometimes) but before pesach people remind me how much work i have left to do and how little time i have to do it and that scares me. The joke is, i don’t approve of spring cleaning for pesach or living chametz-free for weeks. The cleaning that we do is per the guidance of Rav Schienberg zt”l and i am not envious of people who have crews and teams scrubbing their bathroom tiles and repainting their dens. I am actually sorry for them that that is what pesach has become in their lives. (i am jealous that they *have* a den, however. that and a playroom are on my wishlist)
having pans everywhere is a priviledge that Hashem has granted my family and i wouldn’t trade it for anything. i just wish people who come to pick food up wouldnt say things like, “I don’t know how you are going to make pesach”

If you don’t believe in spring cleaning then don’t. And don’t let other people’s comments rattle you. I love doing spring cleaning before Pesach, otherwise it doesn’t get done. After pesach, I rather spend the afternoon at the park with the kids. And trust me my house needs it…
That doesn’t mean Chametz free. A couple days before pesach I go over every corner with a vacuum cleaner, but because everything was already ‘spring cleaned’ and organized it only takes several hours and then the house is chametz free.
As for your ‘wish list’ I can guarantee that if you had everything on it, you would create a new one, and still have a ‘wish list’ that is life.
not letting other’s comments rattle me is the key. easier said then done for me. i try to take peoples words to heart and it has been known to backfire on me.
regarding my wish list – you are one smart queen. But right now i’m over sensitive about my house because 1) im listening to people tell me about their already-been-cleaned portions, that are bigger than my whole house. which is bothering me at this moment because 2) im making a simcha and cant offer housing.
so these threads will keep rattling me even while i thank Hashem for everything i have, (including other people’s leftovers), becuase the yetzer hora can’t always stop you from doing good, but he can certainly stop you from getting schar for it thru resentful thoughts. now that you reminded me that im heading in the wrong direction….im gonna put myself back together. Thanks for the chizuk!!!

Thanks (and no thanks) Queen! B”H Chasuna is in the summer, not imminent, still a lot extra to tend to this year. Baruch HaShem!! Chasuna is ??”? in Eretz Yisroel, so preparations are of a different (and uncharted) nature.
And the cleaning… 1 / 8!! Yes, this makes me a bit more than anxious… I break out in a cold sweat in middle of the night… then I turn over and resume…
My brother got married in Eretz Yisroel around fifteen years ago. It is some of the nicest memories I have. The whole family was there, it was beautiful.
I hope you are joking about the anxiety from the cleaning!
Queen: NOT REALLY joking. Joking about turning over and resuming my sleep… How, for heaven goodness do you find time now for crocheting?!?
Yesterday I put my 2 year old little monkey in the bath, the only place where he doesn’t do any damage, and babysat him in the bathroom for almost an hour. While he ‘swam’ I crochet.
I have zero anciety about Pesach cleaning. Not because my house is super clean (it’s not). Not because I have cleaning help (I don’t). And not because I am going away (I never do). It’s because we have to get rid of CHAMETZ, not do our Spring cleaning. If you do one room at a time, you will be done in plenty of time. If you have small kids, designate one area in which food is kept or noshed, and once you have vacuumed or swept, substitute only Pesach-friendly nosh, so even a mess is not a chametzdigeh mess.
When Pesach arrives, I feel I am in a new house. Everything looks different. I often turn my table around, to give the kitchen a new look. I think if we could try to approach the yom tov with an attitude of simcha, then maybe we will actually FEEL the simchas yom tov. Not trying to be preachy here, sorry if I sound that way. But I have listened to many women younger and older, complaining about the burden of Pesach preparations, and many of them will not even be HOME, so what’s the chiluk?
I have arthritic hands and unbendable knees, but I still cannot wait to start preparing my charoses, and cooking my Pesach specialties for my kids and grandkids, who are all coming for yom tov, and wait all year for some of these delicacies. And as an added treat, my son, daughter-in-law and brand new granddaughter will be with us for most, if not all of Pesach. Calm down everyone, or you will never be able to enjoy this amazing (and favorite of mine) holiday. It somehow ALL gets done, no matter how much we stress over it, so why bother to be stressed????

Please try to understand the complaints of people going away for Pesach. A hotel stay requires 2 outfits per meal (2 in case you need to change because you got matza crumbs on your skirt, or because you’re wearing cashmere and the sun came out, or you’re wearing pale pastels and it started to snow) per female. If the family includes one mother and only 2 daughters, well you do the math… 24 meals (8 days X 3)… i get 144 outfits. An alligator snapping his jaws at me could not stress me more than having to do that amount of shopping and packing.
While you’re mulling that over, enjoy the brand new granddaughter!! (Nothing can equal that joy, except of course a brand new grandson.)
I did feel bad hearing that LF breaks out in a sweat in middle of the night due to Pesach cleaning. Hope you were just kidding, LF. If not, your vaccum cleaner is your friend. You can vaccum a room in a few minutes. You can move lighter things, like a chair, or a pair of socks, and leave the heavier furniture in place. If you’re worried that some chametz made its way behind that heavy dresser you inherited from your Tante Minna, or is hiding all the way at the back of a drawer somewhere, please ask your Rav if you are permitted to lose sleep over that.
It’s going great! I only have three rooms left plus my kitchen! The car I also have to do, but that I’ll do closer to Pesach.

Golfer: Please don’t you or anyone else (besides Frogette) feel bad for me. OK. I’m not really breaking out in a sweat… there’s something called “dramatic effect”.. And yes, I do get a bit nervous, especially when I read how far others are holding, but I’m not exactly freaked out…
And yes, I do make an especial effort to clean and work with a simcha’dig atmosphere. To have in mind why we’re doing it, for whom we’re working. I do try keep my family ( Frogette included) upbeat, with that elated, expectant, excited mood. It’s just my inner sense of reality that gets to me from time to time. Funny thing, every year we forget that somehow we made it the previous year!!
I have been here on and off. B”H busy with my four week old granddaughter’s entry into the world and babysitting, and a few physical issues that kind of blindsided me, but B”H all the tests seem to be ok so far. I have just been incredibly busy, as I am sure all of you are as well, and I know my limits. I HAVE been thinking of my CR friends, and that’s why I made the time today to actually read some posts and respond.
The Queen – I have no problem sharing my subtitle with any other like-minded phenomenal Bubbies. There is definitely room (and a need)for more of us. I B”H really enjoy being with my aineklach, and with my husband retired, we both get the chance to spend equal time with them, together.
Thanks, DY. Whatever great attitude I have, I got it from my wonderful mom O”H, who really made Pesach preparation a joy in my eyes. I only wish her hands were still next to mine as I bensch licht. She always had a custom of saying after we lit the candles, “May the same hands that brought yom tov in this year, likewise help to bring it in next year.” Unfortunately 22 years ago on 28 Nissan, we forever lost that possibility. But I never lost my mother’s generosity of spirit and simchas hachayim. Or her love of Pesach…
I Kashered my car today. Took about 5 and a half hours. If you saw what it looked like, you’d understand. (problem was I lent it out and got it back with ????? – ??? ????, all around the place)
Whoever finds another cheerio in my car can keep it FREE. (limit one per family)
You kashered your car? Did you pour boiling water on the seats? Turn the engine on to the highest setting and let it run for an hour?…

Vacuuming sounds less exhausting to me. Think of putting everything back after the great shake out!
