A class of pupils came and told me how i love some pupils and dislike others. This is totally untrue as some are treated differently because they are more mature or less mature. Some behave better and few have special educational needs which i have to cater for. How do i tell the class that girls are treated differently because of whom they are?

It is important to make it clear to all the students that you “love” each and every one of them equally but since they feel that you give some of them more attention than others you would like to clarify something. Let them know that it is still quite early on in the year and you are still getting to know them. As such you are just trying to understand what each girl’s weaknesses and strengths are and you are trying to accomodate to the needs of the individuals in the class. If you have not gotten it quite right as of yet, ask them to please give you a little more time to hit your stride. If someone feels that you are not addressing their individual needs or feels neglected in any way, ask them to see you after class or write you a note that you will be sure to answer.
