It seems the RAMBAM says that a person who is traveling is potur from davening because of tirda. If I recall correctly, he seems to even say that you are potur for a day after arriving at your destination. What are the limitations of this psak, and why does nobody follow it?

I think the Rambam holds you only daven when you properly feel like davening.Otherwise, what you quote cannot be understood.

This makes sense, because when you daven just because other people are davening, you don’t have Kavana like when you actually want to daven.

I think I once heard a schmooze on this subject, although I haven’t adequately provided all the inyanim.
