Feed two birds with one scone = harm two birds with human food.
December 19, 2018 12:24 am at 12:24 am #1647545MRS PLONYParticipantI generally say “Catch two fish with one net” when I want to make that point. The original version of the saying would create nivailos.
December 19, 2018 1:59 am at 1:59 am #1647563👑RebYidd23ParticipantThey weren’t even kosher birds.
December 19, 2018 3:37 pm at 3:37 pm #1647895Avram in MDParticipantI may be beating a dead horse, but the irony of the “Holocaust on your plate” folks taking exception with common idioms makes me sick as a dog. This is the straw that broke the camels back, and I am going to take the bull by the horns and kill the fatted calf. Thankfully there’s more than one way to skin a cat.
December 19, 2018 4:14 pm at 4:14 pm #1648060ZionGateParticipant“You can’t have your cake, and eat it.”
Why not ???
The correct version: You can’t eat your cake and have it.
Which reminds me; can people stop saying , “eksetra”?
It’s ETCETERA…. et cetera.December 19, 2018 4:26 pm at 4:26 pm #1648077Avram in MDParticipantZionGate,
C’mon, we have bigger fish to fry here!
December 19, 2018 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm #1648122ZionGateParticipantAvram,
I knew something was fishy.
Admit it…. your bite is bigger than your bark.
Because ,I heard your’e long in the tooth..December 20, 2018 12:09 am at 12:09 am #1648285MRS PLONYParticipantThey COULD have been kosher birds. The geese around Suzanne Lake in Monsey are such a nuisance that some people might be tempted to kill them with rocks, two at a time if possible. But geese are kosher. I suppose that there’s more than one way to peel a cantaloupe.
December 20, 2018 2:00 pm at 2:00 pm #1648638👑RebYidd23ParticipantI don’t believe it is possible, at least not by hand.
December 20, 2018 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm #1648721🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantThese people at PETA are idiots. Don’t spook the horse you’re riding. Don’t they realize the more ridiculous they get the more likely they’ll end up sleeping with the fishes? Actually that’s a bit extreme. More likely they’ll just be taken as seriously as words spoken by a parrot. That’s mostly the case already now though.
December 21, 2018 1:41 pm at 1:41 pm #1649141👑RebYidd23ParticipantConspiracy theory: With “feed two birds with one scone”, “feed a fed horse” and “bring home the bagel”, PETA is seeking to promote obesity.
December 23, 2018 7:40 am at 7:40 am #1649373MRS PLONYParticipantAnd obesity from eating vegan foods, no less!
December 26, 2018 8:14 am at 8:14 am #1651997☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantAccording to PETA, animal treatment is a social justice issue. Let that one sink in.
Perhaps we should poll the animal population on whether they find these idioms offensive?
December 30, 2018 12:32 am at 12:32 am #1653797MammeleParticipantRY: I know I’m late to the party, but try feeding the birds with millet scones. I’m sure you can find a bird friendly recipe. If not, simply the seeds will do.
