On the white house website. The administration promises to review it if it reaches 5000.

Any petition that gets more then 5,000 signatures gets a “review”. To get real consideration it needs hundreds of tousand signatures.

The signatures are being added at a furious pace by Jews allover the country. They have almost 4000 now.
If people are signing more than once the petition could get thrown out, according to the terms posted on the website. So I hope all of the 5K are legit.

Where does it indicate that 5000 will trigger a review? And what constitutes a review?
On the webpage check the link “Learn about petition thresholds”; it says there that 5K will earn a response.
It is not taking more than one signature per IP address. I tried to sign in again for my husband and it didn’t allow it.
I spoke to SMR’s daughter this evening, they were hoping to reach the 5,000 signatures in one day which B”H happened. Mi K’amcha Yisroel. If we can keep going at this pace and keep spreading the word, there is no way that this petition can be ignored. The Huffington post already reported on this and is going to watch the outcome. They will report if there is no follow through as promised.
I was told that he is very “shtark” and was not counting in anyway on the circuit appellate court especially since Linda Reade sat with them that week and even that day on other cases. Something she had not done in years. It was well calculated and it is something that the Supreme Court will NOT ignore.
In addition, I was told that he likened the need for this case to go all the way to the Supreme Court because of the bias and the injustice, to the Miranda case. If that case hadn’t gone all the way to the Supreme court, the Miranda law would not be in place to protect ALL against bias and individual rights. We have all learned recently of the other bias case in Postville against another Frum Jew and how the city negotiated a settlement with him instead of going to court. He agreed because he knew he would be facing the same biased Linda Reade. He therefore settled on the $400,000 offered. The City officials involved however were not fired, they were sent for “sensitivity” training. We all know what that means and boils down to. Nothing.
So that information I am quite sure will also be presented to the Supreme Court along with Judge Linda Reade’s corroboration with the prosecution, her decision to sit with the other circuit court judges the week of the appeal and the negligence of the prosecutors to give the information necessary to the defense to allow them the opportunity to ask the Judge to recuse herself. This of course in addition to the excessive sentence and the Department of Justice’s total inconsideration to even acknowledge the 45 congressmen and women and all the judicial advocates who wrote letters requesting that Eric Holder Investigate this injustice.
Please let us all keep davening and keep all our efforts going full throttle to help SMR and to make sure that this can never happen again.

On a lighter note, there is a petition for the government to come clean about extraterrestrial visits to earth. I saw on some website (I forget where) a funny suggestion that 5,000 GOP people should sign that one and then enjoy the sight of the Obama admin responding to that nonsense. 🙂

there are ways of spoofing multiple IP addresses from one computer for example using TOR or some other kind of onion routing proxy…but there are always signatures such as crosses across nodes on the TOR networks, common hosts used over and over which can appear on a traceroute…so even if they couldnt track you they could tell that you’ve been messing with proxies and could invalidate the petition. don;t play shtick with this.

UPDATE: Although it does not apply to petitions already begun, the White House has just increased the number of signatures necessary to receive attention from 5,000 to 25,000. The Rubashkin petition is almost at the 25,000 even though it is not necessary to receive attention as it was started before this new threshold was put into place. Just FYI for any future petitions.

We need to get as many signatures as possible. On the upcoming Yomim Tovim and Shabbosim we will not be able to vote, so we have this opportunity to give Rabbi Rubaskin as many votes as possible. The White House is trying to get the Jewish vote, so let’s show them that this issue is of paramount importance to us. Let him go after Judge Linda Reade and make her the korban. That would be sweet justice. So, please keep on voting so that we can make our voice heard and that Rabbi Rubashkin will know that we are solidly behind him.
Please everyone don’t stop at 25,000 – keep adding until the last possible moment to make sure the White House sits up and takes notice and does something so that Yidden will not be subjected to the likes of Judge Reade.

A CAPTCHA is that puzzle of numbers and letters that you are supposed to copy in order to determine that there is indeed a human sitting at the computer.
Just keep trying to copy the characters till you get it right.
It is an acronym playing on the word “capture” and standing for something like “Completely Automated Public Test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”.
I don’t see any residency or citizenship requirements.
Who can participate in the We the People platform?
Anyone 13 or older can create or sign a petition on WhiteHouse.gov. In order to participate in the We the People platform on WhiteHouse.gov, users must create a WhiteHouse.gov account and verify their email address.
As well as doing our hishtadlus and davenning for Rabbi Rubashkin, we must also remember to davven for Gilah Schalit.
