I am trying to find out the dimensions of a typical NYC muni meter (height, width, depth). Does anyone know? I don’t live in NYC so I can’t measure, and while I can see them on Google Earth, I can’t measure them in street view.
(I am doing this for a project, and we are trying to determine if it is a “makom patur” or not. An old fashioned meter would be, but we are not sure about the new meters).
Thank you.

January 15, 2017 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #1209636LevsParticipantyes, but because a fire hydrant is between 4 and 10 tefachim high, it is in a different category compared to a parking meter. As there are fewer parking meters around, we are trying to determine the size of the muni-meter to see if it is also a makom patur.

The question we have is how wide and deep are they? If they are too big, then they could be a reshus hayachid, in which case it would be forbidden to place anything on them while in a reshus harabim.

Length x Width slightly bigger than a a regular sheet of loose leaf paper
January 19, 2017 11:31 am at 11:31 am #1209641LevsParticipantI assume the sheet of paper is US Letter, which would mean one side is slightly larger than 11″.
Thank you for taking the time to do the measurements.

Where else could you find someone to help you out with something like this?
And now that you have the measurements, I hope you realize we’re all waiting to hear the conclusions you reach based on them.
