    Two questions please:

    1) What happens on the 5th of Iyar? Do we say kinot? Zahavasdad asked about it and so far we’re all mums the word.

    2) What are Kinot?

    Thank you πŸ™‚

Wait rewind please… Tell me if I got it:

Kinot are said during mourning on Tisha B’Av.

And the 5th of Iyar is Yom Ha’Atzmaut. Anyone who would be mourning the foundation of the State of Israel may be saying Kinot on this day as well.

    ? Thanks

    Perfect. You got it!

Also – I think it’s a joke. I don’t think there are too many people (if any) who literally say Kinos on the 5th of Iyar. If there are a few people who do, I would imagine they are not people who post in the Coffee Room ( um… actually, maybe they are… in any case, if it happens, I think it’s rare.)

    Thanks LU! πŸ™‚

Gosh the first thing that I did when I read zahavasdad’s post was text a friend about it.

My friend had no clue what I was talking about, and asked me if I thought that tomorrow’s Tisha B’Av. Lol, kinda embarrassing. Oh well πŸ™‚

We say selichos on Behab, maybe someone got confused with that and thought it was for the zionist holiday when they fell out on the same day.

Note this cant happen anymore since I think they pushed off the holiday? Can someone confirm?

Actually every year posters go up in Meah Shearim with the nusach “x years, how much more can we take?” Whenever I pass by I read a few to get a good laugh., especially those signed “The Rabbanim, Shelita”.

LB: it has nothing to with BHB. Yom Hazikoron for the Israeli Soldiers cannot be on Sunday so it is moved to Monday 5 Iyar and Yom Hatzmaut is moved to Tuesday 6 Iyar.

    B – yom beis Monday
    H – yom hey Thursday
    B – yom beis Monday

It is read Behab. It is starts the first Monday after Pesach to do tshuva for over any averios committed by mistake over Yom Tov. (overindulgence of tayvos) I believe some people fast on those day.
