YWN regrets to inform  you of the Petira of Hagaon HaRav Nota Tzvi Greenblatt ZATZAL, longtime Posek and Av Bais Din from Memphis Tennessee. He was 96.

  1. About 40 years ago I was an aid at a g-t he was writing. While he was writing I noticed a newspaper laying nearby and I began reading the front page. At some point he noticed me looking at the paper and he tells me very sternly,” an aid has to to do Teshuva.”

  2. R’ Nota always told the most amazing stories. I remember seeing a video where he (practically crying) told about boys in the 1940’s that one day were the top Bochurim in Yeshiva and next day instead of Yeshiva were standing on the train platform handing out Communist literature.

  3. HaRav Greenblatt was the designer of the eiruv in Phoenix, AZ. He was also a m’seder gittin in the city for years. Yehi zichro boruch.

  4. Boruch Dayan HaEmes. Yehoshua zichro boruch. May he be a meilitz yosher for all of us.
Just wanted to clarify: regarding R’ Nota’s rebbeim, the article simply mentions that the Rav was a talmid of Rav Moshe, zt’l. For anyone who was a little confused about the videos, which are not hinted to in the article… the videos show the Rav discussing Rav Dovid Leibowitz, zt’l, Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vdaas and founding Rosh yeshiva of Chofetz Chaim (currently in Queens, NY) who clearly was another very close rebbi of his.

  5. There were at least 3 great RY in America before R. Dovid Lebowitz ztl. The Meitzesher Gaon zlt, arguably Rav Chaim’s best talmid, RSS ztl and RMS ztl
