Israel: Gov’t to Fund Travel Cost for Families of MIAs

The Knesset on Tuesday passed a bill into law that will compel the national government to cover the cost of travel abroad for families of IDF soldiers missing in action or being held prisoner.

To date, the government did cover most costs, but now it is law explains MK (Kadima) Tzachi Hanegbi, who chairs the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee.

Hanegbi explains that passing it into law sends a positive message to the families, expressing his hope the law will never be used.
