Israel is rapidly intensifying its strikes on Iran amid growing concern that the war could soon be halted due to potential U.S.-Iran negotiations, according to a New York Times report citing senior Israeli officials.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered the military to maximize attacks over a 48-hour window, aiming to destroy as much of Iran’s weapons infrastructure as possible before any potential agreement is reached.
The urgency follows reports that Israel obtained a U.S.-drafted plan outlining a possible path to end the war. Israeli officials fear the proposal may not fully eliminate Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats, and are concerned President Trump could announce talks at any moment.
At the same time, Netanyahu stressed that the military campaign is ongoing.
“The campaign against Iran is continuing at full force, despite what is reported in the media,” he said.
Netanyahu added that the threat of a Hezbollah ground invasion into northern Israel “no longer exists,” and said Israel is creating a buffer zone in Lebanon while working to dismantle Hezbollah.
“We are determined to do everything to fundamentally change the situation in Lebanon,” he said.
Israel’s stated goals remain dismantling Iran’s missile capabilities, preventing nuclear weapons development, and weakening the regime.
