Do Jewish stores and restaurants play Channukah music this time of year?

Today I was working with someone who was playing Christmas music. She said that she plays it from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, always. One of the songs is still in my head.

What can I do? Replace that tune with Driedel Dreidel?

Chanukah music is a copy from the goyim and is assur. By yidden the minhag was always to say Hallel and thats it.

@UBIQUITIN You cannot tell tone and inflection in text so its hard to tell but I sure hope you are joking. Are you saying that every shul I have even been to that sings Kedushah, et. al., to the tune of “al hanissim” over Shobbas Channukah is doing an issur d’Rabanan or is it a Daraysa?

ubiquitin: What chanukah music is considered assur? Al Hanisim from Amudai Shaish Boys Choir? Moaz Tur? Yevanim Nikbutzu from London School of Jewish Song? or Ben Tzion Shenker A”H? or Dovid Dardashti?

If it snows on Chanukah can we build a snowman?

Is it okay if we use a latka for his nose instead of a carrot?

And put Zaidy’s old borsalino on top of his head?

“If it snows on Chanukah can we build a snowman?”

Only if you make sure to take his cigarette out before Shabbos.

There was a story about that in an old “Best of Olemeinu” book, written by Rebbetzin Bulman zatsal. It was about a snowman whose creator almost forgot to take his cigarette out before Shabbos, and he was really upset about is so he davened to Hashem that the boy should remember before Shabbos.

Rebbetzin Bulman zatsal told me that it was based on a true story that happened her son. (Well, maybe some of the details were made up…).
