I just checked the archives and couldn’t find how a thread gets closed or reopened so I’m wondering how that happens?

while were at it how do you bold a word (or letter)

is it all up to the moderators?

I was wondering the same thing in terms of the bolding words/letters. Also, how do you make the letters in an italicized font like many people here do at times?

    #1089358

    bold: <strong>your text</strong>

    italics: <em>your text</em>

(With a name like that, what do you get? :-} )

It goes like this. Type the following:

bold: type the word strong inside < > , write your text, then write /strong, again inside < >

italics: write em inside < >, write your text, then /em inside < >

    blockquote:

write blockquote inside < >, write your text, then

    /blockquote inside < >.

    Yogibooboo,

Let’s say you want to write “Kalamazoo” in italics. You type as follows:

    <em>Kalamazoo</em>

    For bold, as follows:

    <strong>Kalamazoo</strong>

    The results should be:

    Kalamazoo

    and

    Kalamazoo

As far as closing threads, from what I’ve seen, the moderator closes it for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the discussion gets nasty, sometimes it goes off topic, sometimes it gets hashkafically questionable, and sometimes it’s redundant with an earlier thread or threads.

Mods, correct me if I’m wrong.

Yossi- I got it the blockquote codes are em, strong, ul, ol, and li so when you do the same procedure that was mentioned above with one of these 5 codes it does somthing to your text!

maybe yossi has a point

blockquote is when you want to block a quote so put it in brackets like em

we know what strong is BOLD

em is italicized

so whats code ul ol and li?

Can anyone tell me how are you able to type in hebrew text in here. I do happen to have hebrew fonts in my computer. But how can I put it into my text if I wanted for example to put something in hebrew in my text in here? Is there a special code or do you need to import (do a copy & paste) it from Davka or the like type of program?

For Hebrew, you could copy and paste from a word processing program which supports Hebrew, or hold down the Alt and Shift keys together, and then repeat to go back to English.

Post #205546 is what’s causing the bottom of this page to display strangely.

It is using the <li> (list item) tag without being preceded by either the <ol> (ordered list) or <ul> (unordered list) tags, followed by a closing tag of the same type (</ol> or </ul>).

For whatever reason, this throws off the display for the rest of the page – it’s happened before.

Specifically, if you edit that post to remove this line:

    <li> hi </li>

…the display should then go back to normal.

Mod 80 – I did not open this thread to mock police. I agree with you 100% that we need the police more than ney need us. However I simply opened this thread for the toeles of the rabbim, for what to do in such situations. Maybe tou can delete the not nice comments, and continue it?

    #1089402

i didnt see anything wrong with your opening post, you appropriately expressed your frustration with the unfairness and others have also.

but its becoming a police bashing thread.

    its enough

I’m just curious, when a thread becomes inappropriate (and I totally agree that we should not be bashing the police), why does the thread close instead of the offending posts being deleted? Does it become too time consuming because too many posts need to be deleted?
