Police are investigating the events surrounding the tragic death of a 4-year-old child in Modi’in Illit on Thursday 12 Elul 5772. The child was left inside a closed vehicle and by the time emergency medical service EMTs and paramedics arrived; there was nothing to be done. A Magen David Adom physician pronounced the child dead on the scene at 11 Yechezkel Blvd. in Brechfeld.

According to Israel Radio, a parent drove children to the talmid torah and it appears the 4-year-old did not get out of the car for some unknown reason.

Walla News reports a teacher volunteered to drive the child and after arriving at the talmid torah locked up the car, unaware the child remained inside.

It appears one of the rebbes also drives children to school and the child fell asleep on his way to talmid torah. The rebbe locked the car, obviously unaware the child was asleep inside. He returned hours later, after class.

Modi’in Illit Zaka Commander Shmuel Segal confirms the child was already dead prior to his arrival.

Moti Fisher, commander of MDA services in Modi’in Illit explained he was the first on the scene with a physician and while they began resuscitation, they realized there was nothing to be done. It appears the child was in the sweltering vehicle for a number of hours, since 08:00. He was discovered in the early afternoon hours.
