100s Stranded in Kiev After Heading to the Tziyun of the Bal HaTanya


Hundreds of travelers including many Chabad and Breslov Chassidim are stranded in Kiev since Sunday, 24 Teves 5773, after they headed to the tziyun of the Bal HaTanya ZY”A on his 200th yahrzeit. The local airline appears to have shut down, bankruptcy, leaving them stranded, including many people that already paid for the tickets.

HaMevaser spoke with a number of travelers, Chabad Chassidim from Kiryat Malachi and Breslov Chassidim who also traveled to kivrei tzaddikim, and now, they are stranded. Their travel agent seems to be indicating a solution will be found on Wednesday, but the stranded folks report there are a number of elderly among the group as well as travelers whose supply of medication has run out and they are still waiting to return home.

After spending hours in the airport they were taken to a Kiev hotel. They have words of praise for the staff of the Kiev Chabad House, which they report is working round-the-clock to accommodate them.

It appears later in the week they will be making their way home via Paris and Vienna.
