Congressman Michael McMahon Back Greenfield In City Council Race

Brooklyn – New York City Council candidate and education advocate, David G. Greenfield was endorsed today by Congressman Michael McMahon. Congressman McMahon represents parts of Brooklyn and Staten Island in the House of Representatives, and is the first member of Congress that represents parts of the 44th Council District to endorse a candidate in the special election to replace Simcha Felder.

“As a Congressman representing parts of this district, I have seen David Greenfield deliver results for this community time and time again,” said Congressman Michael McMahon, “David Greenfield will fight to make sure that all communities get relief from higher taxes, increased educations costs, and over-aggressive parking-ticket agents. David has the proven experience to be a leader for this community and to make New York more affordable.”

“Congressman McMahon is an independent representative who always puts the needs of his district above partisan fighting and inside-the-beltway games. When he was at the City Council and now in Congress, Congressman McMahon has the moderate and balanced approach to government that this community needs,” said Greenfield. “I will work with him to bring that approach to government to City Hall.”

In addition to the support of Congressman McMahon, Greenfield has also received the endorsements of a number of other prominent elected officials, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor Ed Koch, US Senator Joe Lieberman, New York State Senators Carl Kruger and Martin Golden, and Councilmen Vincent Gentile, Michael Nelson, Domenic Recchia, and Lewis Fidler. Greenfield has also received widespread support from prominent members of every ethnic community in the diverse 44th Council District, including the Catholic, Ashkenaz, Sephardic, and Hasidic communities.

  1. I guess FOR SOME REASN David is not successful enough in getting endorsements from the BP/Flatbush Yiddisha community, so he is getting endorsements from other places, like;

Joe lieberman, Ed Koch,New York State Senators Carl Kruger and Martin Golden, and Councilmen Vincent Gentile, Michael Nelson, Domenic Recchia, and Lewis Fidler

  2. all the Yiddishe Jews will vote for greenfield but to endorse DOV hikinds opponent they are all so afraid of retaliation .
mr hiking here is yom hadin coming the old corrupt machine is on the way out

  3. .

My sons, from two differnt yeshivos, came home with letters saying that it is a chiyuv to vote for Dovid Greenfield and that he has actually brought money directly to the yeshivos. There was a sign hanging in my shule, signed by my Rov saying the same thing.

The “raid” is that the aguda is only “appearing” to support the hikind/lazar team, because he has threatened them with no more funding.

There are also signs up all over boro park, with a “mechaah” against DH as a mevaze rabonim and yeshivos on his show regarding the “molestation ” issue. He also many many times criticized the AGUDA and the MOETZES rergarding its stance on the Markey Bill.

Only seceral chasidishe groups have signed with hikind/ lazar. (dehainu belz and ger); and thats because they’ve been promised big money for their POWER BROKERS (machers blaz)

Bkitzur, oilam hatoira and many chasidishe groups want an end to the bizayon talmidei chachomim and yeshivos on hikind’s radio show. They want him OUT.

Ask around and you will see for yourself.

  4. David lets see some endoesements from Rabbonim that has meaning to us and not from politicians that may help your political career further on or coming from Lopez

  5. Heimish I see how highly you think of our rabbonim to say one thing and do another I dont buy this whole Hikind Machine theroy hes only done good for all our Yeshivos and organizations. It Only makes sense to continue supporting him when David can convince us hes less of a politician and more for our community well talk

  6. Menchlich
Why don’t you explain to me why AFTER SPENDING $40,000 Nachman Caller is no longer running for city council? What did Shelly Silver and Hikind tell him?? They bullied him out of this race because he would have gotten the Heimishe vote! Hikind= Bully.

  7. Because Dov has the Best Interest in our community (See His record no one else here comes close) and he knows that Lazar is what we need and better & obviously so do the people that count like Silver Obviously If Silver is supporting Lazar over Greenfield which is what seems to be than we need Lazar

  8. On March 23rd voters will decide if these “Endorsements” mean anything.

Voters shouldn’t be bullied by any “Endorsements” or “Campaign Slogans”.

Let’s send our city a message by voting for a candidate who knows “Law and Order”, who actually rides our “Mass Trasnit”, and is concerned about the quality of life of this great community.

Let’s send this message by sending to City Hall the endorsed candidate of the Kings County Republican Party in Kenneth M. Rice.

As the other “Republican” in the race Jonathan J. Judge lives off a $23 an hour “Patronage” job on Community Board 14 handed to him by Democrats which is one of the many reasons by a 33-3 margin Kenneth M. Rice is the “Real Republican” in this race.

As the other “Republican” in the race Jonathan J. Judge tactically endorsed “Democratic” candidate for Mayor William C. Thompson yet he calls himself a “Conservative”?

As the other “Republican” in the race Jonathan J. Judge endorsed a candidate for the 49th Assembly District in Lucretia Regina Potter who has lied about her business dealings, and is now living with her parents as well yet claims to understand the needs of her community when she is not even employed.

As the other “Republican” in the race Jonathan J. Judge is so “Divisive” to the Kings County Republican Party here’s what Kings County Conservative Party chair Jerry Kassar had to say about Mr. Judge

From The Brooklyn Spectator, Page 9, January 16-22, 2010.

    Common Sense by Jerry Kassar.

“Judge appears to have become a controversial figure within the Republican Party.
Although he denies involvement, Republican Party leaders have accused him of being behind a blogger site that uses nonexistent people to attack many of them on a very personal basis. To say that many Republican leaders believe the site’s hosts should be held legally libel is an understatement. It will be interesting to see if this website is held against him as he seeks support.”

Our community does need this and on March 23rd we need to send a message for “Neighborhood Reform” by voting for the “Real Republican” Ken Rice on March 23rd.

Kenneth M. Rice March 23rd the “Real Republican”.

  9. #2/#4/#7 – Have you people ever heard about the many issurim of loshon hara? There’s a great sefer out on it, I believe its called Chofetz Chaim. They even have it in english now, and have it in a day by day format. You should learn it sometime.

  10. How come the Lazar campaign has a 1310-48th street address, the same asDov Hikind’s taxpayer paid district office??????

    corruption

  11. 8.Because Dov has the Best Interest in our community (See His record no one else here comes close) and he knows that Lazar is what we need and better & obviously so do the people that count like Silver Obviously If Silver is supporting Lazar over Greenfield which is what seems to be than we need Lazar

you forget one very important thing , allthe politchans that you have mentiones in youre post do not have the average person at heart . they sad to say only care about there friends .

  12. The Yeshiva’s are angry with Mr Greenfeld since he got a check $300 per child every year for parent not for the Yeshiva. I personaly like Mr Greenfeld but I am not in his district. He has gotten my child some tutoring paid by the goverment so I don’t need to take my child to a Public School for free remedal studies.

As for Dov he did me a personal favor and I am greatful for it.

  13. #4,

I hope you are not saying that yeshivas are using any of their own funds, or school time, to endorse Mr. Greenfield. I don’t live in the district or even in Brooklyn, so I don’t really have an interest in this, but for a yeshiva to lobby for a particular candidate in an election would violate its status as a tax-exempt charity. It could lose its tax-exempt status, have to pay income, sales, and property taxes, and all the contributions to it would no longer be tax deductible. Even worse would be the chilul HaShem caused by another scandal.
