State Department Condemns ‘Disgraceful’ Shelling Of U.N. School In Gaza

idftankn4.jpgThe State Department issued a statement Sunday condemning Israel’s “disgraceful” shelling of a United Nations school sheltering civilians in Gaza, saying that the United States is “appalled” by the attack which left 10 people dead.

“The United States is appalled by today’s disgraceful shelling outside an UNRWA school in Rafah sheltering some 3,000 displaced persons, in which ten more Palestinian civilians were tragically killed,” reads the statement. “We once again stress that Israel do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties.”

The statement continues: “UN facilities, especially those sheltering civilians, must be protected, and must not be used as bases from which to launch attacks. The suspicion that militants are operating nearby does not justify strikes that put at risk the lives of so many innocent civilians.”

  1. WRONG AMERICA. IT DOES JUSTIFY. YOU WOULD DO THE SAME THING. What should we do just say thank you and let them continue??

  2. CORRECTION!
State department issued its strong condemnation of the use of UN schools for storing and shelling of rockets into civilian populations of Israel. It will bring its grievance to the UN for official filing alongside the condemnation issued earlier against Israel for not sharing its secret Iron Dome formula with Hamas.

  3. Its so easy to condemn and very convenient to do so from several thousand miles away even when other reporters from various countries have testified to rocket launches from schools and UN buildings. MR head of the UN (UNITED NOTHING)
do you really CARE? NO!!!! you only care that the missiles were found that is whats eating you up.

  4. “The suspicion that militants are operating nearby does not justify strikes that put at risk the lives of so many innocent civilians.”

    Huh? What?
Hey Susan, you Anti Semite! So when rockets fly out of the school towards innocent “Israeli” citizens, you don’t give a damn! Israeli blood is worthless! Only those “poor” “oppressed” “innocent” “Hamas” “women” & “children” matter! Susan Rice & Eric Holder, both unelected by the US taxpayers, are truly the scrooge of this current corrupt Government! This Government does NOT represent me, an honest taxpayer, and brings shame to this once great Country!

  5. “Disgraceful Shelling?”
The State Department, Wannabe Ayatollah Obumma, Greasy, and Dumb Gum Chump should go visit the UN schools and count the amount of rockets hidden in each one of them. When the find enough they can all sit on one each and watch the show from there.
Any of you US government idiots ever think that Hamas forced these the civilians into the school knowing that they were going to shoot some rockets off from the to draw attention to the school? Besides that how can anyone trust Hamas to give a correct body count?
Remember you US government dummies, we didn’t start this, but we sure as heck are going to finish it.

  6. 1) If the UN/US State Dept.(same thing) cared ANYTHING about the civilians, they would find a solution to move them out of harm’s way, like south of the Gaza border in the vast expanses of the Sinai Desert, which could be supervised by the “great peace negotiator”, Egypt.
    2) If the building is housing 3,000 civilians and it was actually shelled directly, why were only 10 killed? (Perhaps it was due to some of those bobby-trapped walls that they have in other UN facilities and it was set off by a NEARBY explosion…when you play with fire your fingers will get burned.)
    3) If New York City was being hit by 5 rockets/day, even if they caused no loss of life, would the US really not feel justified to take whatever steps necessary to eliminate the threat swiftly…how many civilians died in the general bombing in Serbia? Did anyone care about those civilians?…hey Hilary?

  7. 4th Geneva Convention, ARTICLE 28 “The presence of a protected person [i.e. a civilian] may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations.”

  8. I AM “APPALLED” that at
20:36: A rocket fired from Gaza has struck a school in the Sdot Negev Regional Council

And was not labeled as disgraceful from the double standard UN, I guess nothing new

  9. once again the state dept shows us its hypocrisy . us forces kill thousands in afghanistan and earlier in iraq . syria kills thousands of its own citizens and this is an issue for the us shame on them!its time to send kerry and his boss back to their holes

  10. Does anyone remember Waco? How many innocent civilians did our American government incinerate? Maybe they could ask Bill Clinton and his attorney general Janet Reno.

  11. Waiting for the UN and White House comments on the mortar fired from Gaza that struck school in Sdot Negev. Perhaps they are looking for new adjectives and adverbs beffore issuing statement.

  12. Israel is entitled to launch its own investigation.
Condoleeza would have made the same comments. We must remember that the US foreign policy is run by the CIA and other shady branches of goverment that don’t change that much between administrations.

  13. Billy Clinton didn’t want to hit Bin Laden as he may have to kill some civilians. Billy-remember WACO?
    9-11 killed how many civilians?

  14. Where civilians not caught in the cross-fire between the American Army and the terrorists groups in Iraq and Afghanistan?
