Satmar & Bobov Chasunas tonight

(Sunday, May 27th, 2007)

s3.jpgs2.jpg[Click on images to ENLARGE them.] Thousands of Satmar & Bobover Chassidim are gathered at this time in honor of two large Chasunas taking place tonight; one in Williamsburg, and one in Brooklyn. The Satmar Chasunah – which is taking place in Williamsburg – is for the Einikle of the Satmar Rebbe Shlita from Kiryas Yoel. The Chupa took place in the street with the Seudah taking place inside the main Satmar Bais Medrash. The Bobover Chasunah – which is taking place in Floyd Bennet Field (Brooklyn) – is for the daughter of the Bobover Rebbe, Rav Bentzion Halberstam Shlita. (Additional photos of the Satmar & Bobover Chasunah’s will be posted as soon as they become available.)

“one in Williamsburg, and one in Brooklyn”- last time I checked Williamsburg is in Brooklyn.

Floys Bennet Field has a catering hall?

  3. wow says:

no they dont have a catering hall or a hall all together the made a tent and if u ask me i say that if the old bobover rebbe (his father) had room for his crowd when he made wedding so would he. like this it does not set a good example for the crowd in bobov and out everyone is trying to lower the prices when marrying off a child and now they spent money in the trash bins.

    Wow:
A few minor corrections if I may. (You asked? :) )
The Chasuna was in a very large building which I am told was formerly an airplane hanger.
And while indeed you are correct that no-one asked you, I would answer; his father R’ Shloima zt”l made chasunas for great grandchildren in his Bais Medrash while for his grandchildren in MSG and other super large venues.
Ultimately, it was a good thing the chasuna was held at Floyd Bennet as there waas no way the Bais Medrash could have that many people. No it wasnt as large as a Satmar chasuna but there was a very large turnout for a very beautiful chasuna.
Incidently, I would have loved to see just a little MORE money spent on trash bins as it did get a bit messy towards the end. :)

anybody know when the biala chasunah is?

For your information, Bobov did not have to pay for the building. It was not rented – they got it for free because it is a federal building. All they had to do is find a place to move the planes that were there.

  7. wow says:

maybe they did not have to pay for the building but they had to pay for the buses that went (s/t like) every half hour and they put down a new floor and all the petty things
