13:00 IL: It appears a mortar shell or anti-tank rocket was fired at the truck belonging to the civilian contracted by defense officials. IDF officials report the attack is being viewed as an intentional act of terror and not mistaken fire from Syria. The father is listed in serious condition. His son, now reported to have been 15, was killed. Three others reportedly sustained light injuries in the attack.
The IDF responded into Syria with tank fire. Additional troops have been mobilized to the border area.
12:49 IL: The fatal attack occurred near Moshav Tel Chazaka. Killed in the attack was a 12-year-old boy who came to work with his father. The dad is contracted by the Ministry of Defense. The father was transported by helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
11:55: A civilian contracted by the Defense Ministry was killed in the attack along the Syrian border in the Golan Heights. It appears the vehicle of the contractor was hit with a mortar shell. The IDF responded with tank fire. Additional forces are being mobilized to the area as a result of the fatal incident.
11:42 IL: According to preliminary reports, an explosive device was detonated against a vehicle of a contractor working in the area of the Syrian border on Sunday morning 24 Sivan 5774.
