Hero Officer Meets with the Parents of Lt. Hadar Goldin HY”D [Corrected]

goldinLt. Eitan has become a hero, although from his perspective he did only what any other member of Pulsar Givati would have done. After realizing Lt. Hadar Goldin was likely snatched by Hamas down into a Rafiach tunnel, he defied orders and took a few of his men and chased after them in the tunnel that lead into Hamas territory. Unfortunately their efforts were unsuccessful. He is likely to receive a commendation for his heroic actions.

Lt. Eitan visited the home of his former colleague, sitting with Dr. Simcha and Mrs. Goldin and their other children to explain the events that took place during that fatal battle. Simcha embraced the young officer, as did his wife Leah. Siblings Tzur, Chami and Ayelet were also present. Eitan gave them some of Hadar’s personal effects including his ID card, siddur, and tefilin. He patiently explained the events, realizing Dr. Simcha is a lt.-colonel in the reserves.

Among the other visitors to the family was President Reuven Rivlin, who has been visiting the homes of all of the 64 fallen IDF soldiers and officers.

  1. A previous story said “Hadar’s levaya will take place today, Sunday 7 Menachem Av at 17:30 in the Kfar Sava Military Cemetery.”
Is this a confusion with Oron Shaul, whose body was not found?

  2. They were unsuccessful in their chase after Hamas who snatched Goldin and yet the family sat shiva. For whom? What for? He might very well be alive?
