Rav Druckman: Giyur Bill is a Bad Mistake

druckmanThe Bayit Yehudi dati leumi party has come out against the Giyur Bill which was passed by the Knesset Ministerial Committee on Monday 3 Marcheshvan. Representing an opposing view in a Tuesday morning interview with Kol Berama Radio was Rabbi Rafi Feuerstein, a leading official affiliated with the Tzohar Rabbonim. That organization lauded the committee’s decision to pass the bill.

Leading dati leumi community rav and posek, Rabbi Chaim Druckman Shlita told Kol Berama the Giyur Bill as it stands today is a “bad mistake”. While the rav expressed criticism, he fell short of stating he will instruct Bayit Leumi to break away from the coalition over the controversial bill which Gedolei Yisrael Shlita warn will “tear apart Am Yisrael”.

It now remains to be seen if the bill will be presented in Knesset as planned for a second and third/final reading. If chas v’sholom this is the case the bill will become law.

Rabbi Shlomo HaKohen Aviner Shlita explains the Giyur Bill is a red line and if Bayit Yehudi can stop the bill from passing by leaving the coalition, it must do so.
