AG Weinstein Plans to Ban Har Habayis Visits for Elected Officials

(Thursday, November 27th, 2014)

hhaMany feel that Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein seems to have lost sight of his position, acting too often as prime minister instead of attorney general. Weinstein makes no effort to hide his left-wing political hashkafa, using the authority of his office to advance his agenda when possible.

In his latest move the attorney general announces he plans to prohibit elected officials from visiting Har Habayis. He feels he has the authority for such a ruling providing the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) announces that visits by Members of Knesset to Har Habayis may result in a sharp escalation in Islamic violence and result in a life-threatening situation.

Some legal experts comment that while MKs have almost unlimited freedom of movement, if security experts declare that certain actions may lead to a life-threatening situation, the attorney general may prohibit such actions. Needless to say not all the experts are in agreement.

Actually Weinstein is a Centrist ,but he is a willing tool of those who control his office

This is precisely a purpose of the ‘Jewish Nation Bill

I think this time he is a 100% right. If we infuriate the terrorists and they will kill more people due to someone going Har Habayis (which is anyways assur)The law should prohibit it.

justasec: If someone abuses their power on an issue you approve of, will you accept the same abuse of power when you disagree?

Even acc. to those who permit going up:

A person may only enter the Har HaBayis to perform a mitzvah
    רמבם פרק ז
מהלכות בית הבחירה הלכה ב ר

Does this apply Arab elected officials as well?

  7. justasec says:

BarryLS1: of course I don’t approve of his abuse of power in any respect. However I hope in this case he stops those nutters from going on Har Habayis. This would be a very dangerous and foolhardy action. Therefore anyone who prevents it will be doing the right thing.
