Egged Strike Scheduled for Monday in Areas of Israel

egednnIn an effort to pressure management, Egged bus drivers in areas of Israel will walk off the job to take part in a one-day strike on Monday, 6 Shevat. The strike was to be held Sunday but drivers realized this would have made it very difficult for too many soldiers returning from Shabbos at home to reach their bases.

Some routes will be operational but the strike is expected to all but shut down the bus service for the day. Commuters are advised to check with Egged to determine if and where buses will be operating.

The drivers feel management has not been negotiating in good faith with the thousands of salaried drivers in the company.

Egged spokesman Ron Ratner calls the strike unjustified and calls on drivers not to walk off the job.
