The head of the northern branch of the Israel Islamic Movement Sheikh Raid Salah was sentenced to 11 months imprisonment on Tuesday. He was sentenced in 2007 and appealed and the system simply let the case sit idle.

However since the government has decided to work to declare the Israel Islamic Movement’s northern branch illegal, the appeal was heard and rejected so Salah will have to serve the 11-month term.

The original conviction was for incitement to racism for one of Salah’s many hate sermons.
