Shabbos Stabbing Attack in Ra’anana Leaves 3 Wounded, 1 in Serious Condition [UPDATED 6:55PM IL]

A stabbing attack occurred in Ra’anana today, Shabbos afternoon. The terrorist wounded a couple in the park on Anilevich and Ramchal Streets in the city, leaving one victim seriously wounded. The other was lightly wounded.

The terrorist tried entering a shul, lightly injuring a woman. Passersby then chased after him, with one firing warning shots into the air. He was apprehended after running about 300 meters when confronted by police with guns drawn he dropped his knife and was taken into custody.

The 20-year Jenin area PA (Palestinian Authority) resident was inside Green Line Israel illegally. B’chasdei Hashem the attack did not end much worse as police learned the attacked tried entering the home of 46-year-old Dikla Dvir via a window. B’chasdei Hashem their dog responded and attacked him and she was able to push him out of their home while shouting to alert her husband and family. Her friend explained that the terrorist lifted his knife to stab Dikla but she managed to control him and prevent being a victim, pushing him out of the window, which she quickly locked. Her husband and their 10-year-old son were at home.

They immediately summoned police. Both Dikla and her son were seriously traumatized by the attempted attack and are being treated by medical experts. Their son apparently is not functioning since the attack.

Police immediately moved to alert status in the city, operating on the assumption that the attacker and a second terrorist were at large. All of the victims were transported to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.

18:55: Meir Hospital reports the victim in serious condition is no longer in life-threatening danger. The victim remains sedated and on a mechanical assisted breathing device in an intensive care unit. His wife is in light condition and under observation. Mrs. Dvir remains under observation in the emergency room and another victim who sustained light injuries has been released.
