Crown Heights – Jewish girl was mugged Wednesday evening, and her blackberry was taken. The incident occurred on Kingston Avenue and Park Place at around 6:30pm.
The girl was walking from her apartment back into the ‘heart’ of Crown Heights when she was accosted by a black male, who snatched her phone from her hands and fled.
Police were called and a police report was filed.
This past Motzai Shabbos there was another such incident, where a girl was mugged for her phone on Eastern Parkway and Troy Avenue, a Shomrim volunteer who happened to be nearby attempted to chase the mugger, but was unsuccessful.
Police have been warning that there is a major surge in cellphone robberies, and have suggested that people don’t use their phones while walking.
