Pedestrian Killed By Train In Rockland County

NANUET – A New Jersey Transit commuter train, operating in Rockland County for the MTA’s Metro-North Railroad, struck and killed a pedestrian in Nanuet Saturday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 8:20 p.m. when a Pascack Valley Line train from Hoboken, NJ to Spring Valley struck a person one mile from the Spring Valley station, according to NJTransit spokeswoman Courtney Carol.

The person was struck near the Thruway overpass at Hutton Avenue.

    Was he walking over the tracks? There is such a danger near train tracks that we are not aware and safety precautions must be explained.
